Investment Clans

Thematising an investment mobile app

Mobile app

Background of the project

Investment Clans was a mobile app I worked with a group of stock analysts in Hong Kong. The most remarkable thing about Investment Clans was that it was designed with the theme of war clans.

Investment Clans was a rare case that I spent most of my time on the UI and visual elements rather than on the UX part. As the sole designer of the project, I designed from the app’s flows, features to the characters, logos and backgrounds.

Highlights of Investment Clans

Investment Clans was defacto an investment made like a game. In investment clans, users could …

Check analysts’ portfolios

Users were able to view what stocks an analyst bought and sold. The performance of the investors would be compared with the average.

Rank for performance

Analysts would be put in a ranking according to their investment performance. The funny about this was that if they underperformed, they would be put in submarines under the sea. This was inspired by a Chinese saying that investors were forced to stay on the boat when they could not cash out their underperformed stocks.

Compare analysts

Users could compare 2 analysts to view how they perform in different categories.

Ask analysts questions

Users could use tokens to raise a new question to their favourite analysts about a particular stock. They could also pay existing questions so that the pool would grow to a point that would attract the analysts to answer.

Watch live sessions by analysts

Users could pay tokens to watch live sessions by analysts.

Earn or buy tokens

Tokens were required for most of the actions within the app. Users could either earn tokens by completing quests or paying.

Level up for higher military ranks

In investment clans, every user is a soldier serving the investment clan. When they spend more tokens, they could level up and enjoy more rights and privileges such as the access to exclusive information and events.
Remark
It was a sad thing that Investment Clans was never put for development as there was an issue with the investors. Personally, I think it would be a really interesting app as it totally repackaged investment into a game-like .
